Building Closed due to COVID-19

Updated: Mar 20, 2020

Like other organisations throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK, YMCA Bellshill & Mossend are preparing for the impact of COVID-19.

We have received several enquiries about whether our service will continue including our After-School Service. We are very sad to announce that as of Wednesday 18 March we will be ceasing all face to face contact with clients and all activities ran from our building in Main St until further notice. If appropriate service users will be offered telephone support.

As of Friday 20 March we will be closing our Main St venue to staff until further notice.

Our childcare facility at Orbiston is an essential frontline service and will remain open for now but this may change as we receive further information from the Government and Care Inspectorate and is dependent on staff resources and service user engagement. All other usage of the childcare building will cease as from Wednesday 18 March.

The organisation, its staff and visitors to our childcare premises are following Health Protection Scotland, NHS Inform and Scottish Government advice about how to reduce the risk of catching the infection –

Staff and clients are encouraged to wash their hands when entering and leaving any of our buildings

Staff and clients are encouraged to stay at home and self-isolate if they present with any symptom of the virus i.e. a new sore throat, cough or fever/high temperature

Any staff member with underlying health conditions are encouraged to stay at home and contact their doctor for advice We will continue to monitor this and will update this message if and when the situation changes.
