At YMCA Bellshill & Mossend, we are always looking for ways to improve our services, support our community, and make a lasting impact. This commitment goes beyond the work we do with children, young people, and families—it also extends to how we care for our building and the environment.

Thanks to the generous support of SP Energy Networks’ Transmission Net Zero Fund and the North Lanarkshire Town Centre Fund, we are making significant upgrades to our building that will improve its efficiency, reduce energy costs, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

What’s Changing?

Over the coming months, we will be installing:

  • Air Source Heat Pumps – Providing a more efficient and sustainable way to heat our building, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

  • New Windows and Lighting – Upgraded, energy-efficient windows and LED lighting will improve insulation and reduce electricity use.

  • Improved Insulation – Keeping our spaces warmer in winter and cooler in summer, lowering energy bills and making the building more comfortable for everyone.

  • 100% Green Energy Solutions – Ensuring that our energy use aligns with our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.

The Impact on Our Community

These improvements are more than just structural changes—they will make a real difference for the people who rely on our services.

  • A Warmer, More Comfortable Space – Whether it’s young people attending our youth work sessions, families using our childcare services, or community members accessing support, everyone will benefit from a building that is more comfortable and welcoming.

  • Lower Running Costs – By reducing energy waste, we can reinvest savings into the services we provide, ensuring that every pound goes further to support the community.

  • A Sustainable Future – As an organisation, we have a responsibility to reduce our environmental impact. These changes help us take meaningful steps towards a greener future.

A Huge Thank You

We would not be able to make these vital upgrades without the support of SP Energy Networks and the North Lanarkshire Town Centre Fund. Their investment in our building means that we can continue to serve Bellshill and Mossend in a way that is sustainable, efficient, and forward-thinking.

We look forward to sharing updates as work progresses. In the meantime, thank you to our staff, volunteers, and community members for your ongoing support.

Together, we are building a better, greener future for everyone.
