Explore our youth work, wellbeing groups, mentoring and community activities in Bellshill and North Lanarkshire.

 

At YMCA Bellshill & Mossend, we offer a range of programmes designed to support and enrich our community. Our youth work initiatives provide young people with a variety of activities that focus on personal development and skill-building. Additionally, Our Time Women’s Group offers a supportive space for women to connect, share experiences, and empower each other.

Each of our programmes is grounded in our core values of creating a safe, honest, inspired, non-judgemental, and adaptive environment for our community.

Y-Hang Out

Y-Hang Out is a fun and safe environment for young people aged 8-16 where every week there will be a range of activities including: Games consoles, Ball games, Arts & Crafts, Chill out area, Hot food and refreshments

3 weekly f𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 sessions are held at YMCA Bellshill & Mossend, Main Street, Bellshill, will also include team building and group activities, alongside workshops on topics identified by the young people.  Sessions are delivered  by trained youth workers, supporting young people to build their peer networks, understand their behaviours and make positive choices. 

  • Mondays   6pm - 8pm, age 8  - 15

  • Tuesdays 4pm - 5.30pm, age 12 +

  • Thursdays 4pm - 5.30pm, age 8 - 15

Y-Act

Y-Act is a creative youth theatre programme that helps young people grow in confidence, communication, and creativity through drama. Across the year, participants explore storytelling, improvisation, and performance in a fun, supportive environment - no singing or dancing, just acting and imagination!

Young people will gain an accredited qualification in Speech and Drama from Trinity College London, work together to create their own original play, and share their performance with an audience. 

Join Y-Act to build skills, make friends, and discover your voice through drama.

Session times:

Wednesdays

  • 4.30pm-5.45pm, 7-11years

  • 6.15pm-7.30pm, 11-17years

Our Time Women's Group

Our Time is open to all women over 18,

and is a group led by women for women. It is a great place to meet new friends and connect with other women in the local community. 

Sessions are weekly on

Tuesday

10am - 12noon

 

followed by a Cooking Class which focuses on healthy eating, budgeting and nutrition. 

Each session offers a different activity including: Yoga, Fitness, Hair & Beauty, Arts & Crafts and much more. 

The group is f𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 but you must register first using the link below as spaces are limited (we will contact you if a space is available).

Cooking Classes

Our weekly cooking groups are practical and welcoming, giving people the chance to build confidence in the kitchen, learn how to prepare different meals and pick up ideas they can use at home.

Our Time Cooking Class is for women and focuses on cooking together, learning new skills and trying a range of affordable dishes.

 

  • Tuesday 12noon–2pm

Our Wednesday Cook Club is open to everyone and takes you on a food journey across the Commonwealth, exploring different countries, cultures, recipes and flavours each week.

Y-Victory Esports

Y-Victory is our Esports and Gaming programme for young people.

Fun, interactive gaming sessions include Minecraft, Fortnite Zone Wars and Rocket League challenges, with opportunities to take part in tournaments and represent your local YMCA.

Y-Victory is about more than gaming. Through youth work, young people can build confidence, teamwork, communication, problem-solving skills and positive friendships, while learning about online safety, healthy gaming and positive digital habits in a safe, supported space.


Fridays

  • 4-5pm, Age: 8-10

  • 5-6pm, Age: 11-13

  • 6-7pm, Age: 8+

  • 7-9pm, Age: 13+

Level Up Esports

Level Up is our coached Esports Club for young people who want to develop their gaming skills and experience competitive esports.

Led by an esports professional, players will train, develop strategies, improve teamwork and communication, and take part in professional-style tournaments.

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday

  • Age 8–12: 6pm–7pm

  • Age 13+: 7.30pm–8.30pm

Y-Connect

 Y-Connect is a free 12-week sensory programme for parents, carers and children with additional support needs – whether diagnosed or undiagnosed. Each week explores a different sensory theme to help support early development, encourage communication, and strengthen bonds through fun and play.

 

Wednesday 

  • 10am–11am, under 4s

  • 3.30pm-4.30pm, under 7s

  • 5.30pm–6.30pm, under 7s

 

A parent or carer must stay for the full session. Sessions are free of charge.

We also offer private unfacilitated sessions for parents and carers to enjoy with their little ones in our sensory room on Wednesdays. The cost is £5 per child, payable in advance.

Y-Digital Skills for All

Our Digital Skills for All programme is designed to help anyone build confidence online. Whether you are completely new to technology or just want to improve your skills, we’ll guide you step by step in a friendly, supportive space.

You don’t need any previous experience, and all devices are provided – just come along and give it a try.

  • 10am-12noon

360 Adventures

360° Adventures brings Virtual Reality and Silent Disco experiences to care homes, day centres and community groups.

Travel the world, revisit favourite places, enjoy music or try something completely new.

 

Our tailored sessions encourage reminiscence, conversation, connection and wellbeing, with support from our trained team throughout. Bringing the world to you!
