Are you ready to lead and inspire a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the Bellshill and Mossend community?  YMCA Bellshill & Mossend is seeking a visionary and committed individual to join our team as Chair of the Board.

 

About Us: For over a century, YMCA Bellshill & Mossend has played a pivotal role in nurturing the potential of young people, supporting families in need, and enhancing community well-being. Our programmes include youth work, community support, and operating a foodbank, all geared towards fostering a positive impact in our community.

 

Role Summary: The Chair will provide leadership, ensuring that our strategic objectives are met and that the board operates effectively. This pivotal role requires a blend of diplomacy, strategic foresight, and a deep commitment to the principles of community service.

 

Key Responsibilities: Lead the board in strategic planning and vision setting. Ensure financial oversight and sustainability of the organisation. Champion risk management and compliance with legal requirements.Engage with stakeholders and represent YMCA at external events.

 

Who We Are Looking For: Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and motivate. Experience in governance and strategic planning. Commitment to our SHINE values: Safe, Honest, Inspired, Non-judgemental, and Environment-focused. Excellent communication and consensus-building skills.

 

Time Commitment: This role demands significant commitment, including preparation for and chairing regular board meetings, strategic planning sessions, and representing the charity at external events.This is a voluntary position; however, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

The Role:

As a Trustee, you will:

· Play a critical role in setting our strategic direction and priorities, aligning with our mission to support and empower the community.

· Provide governance and oversight, ensuring compliance with legal obligations and promoting a culture of integrity and accountability.

· Help steer our efforts in response to community needs, enabling resilience, fostering safe spaces, and advocating for equality and diversity.

We Are Looking For Trustees Who:

· Are committed to YMCA Bellshill & Mossend’s values of creating a safe, honest, inspired, non-judgmental, and adaptable environment.

· Have a background in the third sector, governance, finance, or other fields beneficial to charity work. While this is preferred, it is not exclusive.

· Possess strategic vision and the ability to think creatively about the challenges and opportunities facing the charity sector.

· Can effectively communicate, collaborate, and contribute to a dynamic team of trustees.
